He was a lovely guy. Now, he became an angel in the sky.
Richard, was indeed a very good actor, here in Holland, we liked him as well, i fell in love with him, in the seventies, hiii. We never will forget him.
will always remember him
Great actor.
Great actor loved his friendly way especially between Fletch and Godber
He would have been really proud of her.
Really sad. He was a great actor and so is she. He would have been so proud of her.
I remember when he died it was a great loss !
no, apparently he had been worried about high cholesterol and they think he had an undiagnosed heart condition. but as far as anyone knows, he didn’t take drugs and didn’t drink heavily, it was a real tragedy, he was so lovely
Poor Richard Beckinsale, he was a great actor!
Richard Beckinsale apparently had a heart condition since birth
was his death drug related ? 31 seems very young for a heart attack for somebody who wasnt a drug user
What a tragic loss for the world of comedy, his family and his fans. And so young too. RIP Richard. You were one of the greats.
Rip: A True comic!
Superb clips, I have just read his biography
and it all makes sense, he is sadly missed
and will always be remembered by future
generations, he will always be 31, forever

this is so sad, i didn’t know that her dad died at such a young age…
Yeah, I second that. BBC America doesn’t run any good comedies anymore. It’s all bad dramas and reality shows. The only way I was able to watch Porridge was by buying some copied dvds. It was worth it though. Richard was also great in Rising Damp. I actually like him in Rising Damp, better than in Porridge, and he was wonderful in Porridge.
i really wish the BBC America would run the Porriidge episodes. it’s a great show. we, in america, didn’t get to know Richard Beckinsale except through Kate. i love her. i think she’s a great talent and it’s great to see her carrying on and embrassing the acting world and, not only making a name for herself, but also sort of honoring her father as well. i’m sure he’s very proud of her.
My mistake, the clip is actually from a BBC TV film called ‘Last Summer’ (1976). It was also directed by Stephen Frears, and ‘Bloody Kids’ would’ve been their second film together. It’s another gritty drama and Richard played a London gangster apparently … I’d be very curious to see it! His career seemed to be heading in a really interesting direction.
Are you sure that’s from Bloody Kids? He doesn’t look like he’s playing the same part as Gary Holton in that clip as he looks too smartly dressed. He looks more like the character played by Derrick O Connor who was the plain clothes police officer in the film. I’ve got to get to the bottom of this as it was in an interview with Stephen Poliakof that I learned that RB was in that film.
